Business Assurance Comes of Age

During the article, Tony also refers to WeDo Technologies raise of awareness for the concept that is being widely adopted by other industry vendors and business analysts.

tonypoulos3The term Business Assurance (BA) is starting to pop up all over the place and Tim McElligott, Editor-in-Chief of B/OSS (Billing & OSS World), thought it a good time to take a closer look at what it actually means. Although the term has yet to achieve the status of Revenue Assurance (RA), which almost everyone can associate with, it is well on the way to becoming an industry term with meaning.

Like Tim, I heard the term first utilized by WeDo Technologies a few years back to differentiate itself from being a pure RA & Fraud vendor. What WeDo inadvertently did was raise the awareness of just how much the science of RA had advanced and that how information being gathered from across the network for RA purposes could also be used and combined with data analytics to give a view of how the business is running.

Tim’s definition of BA encapsulates the TM Forum view as well – “Business Assurance, in theory, combines the current operations-focused solutions for revenue and cost management and melds them with enterprise business metrics to get a holistic view of how a company is performing financially,” and where the operations view of the business meets the enterprise view, business assurance gives rise to informed decisions.
