New Stratecast Report Positions WeDo Technologies as Global Market Leader in Fast Growing Telecoms Revenue Assurance Market

WeDo Technologies, an innovator in Revenue and Business Assurance, is the leader with a 25 percent share of the total $235 million RA market in 2009 - according to a new report from Stratecast, "Revenue Assurance and Cost Management Global CSP Sector Assessment."

Highlighting the continued evolution of basic revenue assurance processes away from their traditional focus on billing issues and towards more strategic business assurance and risk management roles, the report emphasises the wider importance of data management for the future of the telecommunications industry and the central role that revenue assurance disciplines and organisations can play.

Commenting on the new report, Rui Paiva, CEO and founder of WeDo Technologies, said, "We're delighted to achieve formal recognition of our growing role in what is becoming an increasingly important and truly strategic market sector. The market for business assurance solutions is quite healthy and we've been able to combine real customer need - especially in the Latin American, European and Middle Eastern and African markets - with a strategy of both organic growth and acquisition. Service providers are recognising the crucial role that business assurance can play in enhancing customer experience while keeping tight control of their EBITDA and Net Profit margins - a vital factor if telecoms service providers are to retain their competitive position in an increasingly interconnected world."

"We see the combined revenue assurance and business management functions as an increasingly important role for long-term business success as the communications industry evolves and converges with other capabilities from the entertainment, media, IT computing and even advertising sectors", said Karl Whitelock, senior consulting analyst with Stratecast a division of Frost & Sullivan. "Blended management of revenue balanced with cost from all parts of the business is strategic and a growing concern as transaction volumes increase and external partnerships expand."

Paiva further stated "In the first quarter of 2010, orders for us grew by around 12 percent when compared with the same period last year. With Stratecast predicting a CAGR of 22 percent in revenue assurance alone, the signs from the market are positive for us."

WeDo Technologies launches new Revenue and Business Assurance platform at MWC 2010

WeDo Technologies, leading innovator in the Revenue and Business Assurance sector, is using MWC this year to launch the latest version of RAID – its powerful and uniquely flexible Business Assurance platform.

With RAID already in use by over 60 service providers worldwide, this latest version – Business Assurance RAID 6.0 – extends the protection offered to service providers even further, adding modules to manage assurance beyond core revenue protection operations to include incentives, collections and partner settlement processes. Additional investment is already underway to increase these functionalities across the wider commercial environment.

“Whatever point they’re at in their growth cycle,” says CEO Rui Paiva, “service providers everywhere are finding that traditional approaches to Revenue Assurance aren’t sufficient any longer to support the multi-dimensional, multi-directional business relationships that they now rely on. The industry isn’t talking any longer here about just protecting its cash flow – the game’s now about much wider strategic issues that involve commercial agility, continual innovation and reputation and risk management. That, in turn, requires us in the vendor community to come up with more holistic tools and visions to first secure - and then enable - the broader enterprise.”

2010 will mark WeDo Technologies’ eighth appearance at an MWC event and demonstrates the company’s steady growth and success so far, building on a 38 percent increase in turnover in 2008 alone. In answering the challenges of a sector that’s continually faced with the emergence of new products and business models - plus ever more complex and fragmented financial, tariffing and charging processes - RAID 6.0’s inclusion of functions to manage collections, partners and incentives widens a service provider’s ‘envelope of trust’ far beyond that usually provided by a typical Revenue Assurance system.

Commercially, the last months of 2009 were extremely positive for WeDo Technologies:
Latin America: Signing of a continent-wide contract with an international Tier-One service provider to optimise its roaming processes.

Mexico: Order for an integrated Revenue Assurance and Fraud Management solution from a national cable operator.

Central Europe: Orders for Revenue Assurance solutions received from mobile operators in Hungary, Armenia and Slovakia.

Europe: Order for a Revenue Assurance solution from a major mobile operator in Spain.

In addition, the company will be extending its global presence still further during 2010 with the opening of new offices in Chile, Panama and Singapore, having already established itself in Egypt, Malaysia and the USA during 2008.

Sited in Hall One, Booth J31, WeDo Technologies will be sharing its stand with its subsidiary Præsidium, the Fraud, Revenue and Business Assurance consultancy.

Sonae’s Retail division implements Business Assurance RAID

WeDo Technologies, world leader in Business Assurance, announces that the retail division of Sonae has chosen WeDo Technologies' Business Assurance RAID software, to handle internal quality control processes and supplier’s cost control.

The solution will import data from various platforms to a central repository, applying rules to identify errors or inconsistencies which will trigger actions and alarms and provide a range of analysis and reports.

"In our business, timely supply of information is essential, so it is very important to have a tool to pre-emptively detect and correct any anomalies that may arise. Business Assurance RAID will help us to reduce data transfer problems, control system configuration, and to optimize internal processes such as the consolidation of information for management. No less important is the fact that WeDo Technologies' solution will improve the control of transactions and provide quality assurance of information,"

According to João Valente, WeDo Technologies' General Manager for New Markets Development, "Sonae’s retail division has decided to implement the Business Assurance RAID system mainly to accelerate the detection of delays or loss of information due to inconsistencies or gaps which occur in systems or processes. With this solution we believe that Sonae will make significant gains, since RAID provides a graphical interface that lets you design and configure the validation process, allowing you to analyse the corresponding results as the process runs."

During the implementation phase, which will take eight months, a team of four staff from WeDo Technologies will provide full training and support.

Sonae's adoption of the RAID system is in line with WeDo Technologies' strategy of broadening its approach to sectors of the market such as retail, finance and utilities through the Business Assurance concept.

Aligned with this strategy WeDo Technologies is attending NRF’s Retail Big Show 2010 in Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City, until January 13th. says Manuela Oliveira, Sonae’s Information Systems Director - Clients and Services.

About Sonae
Sonae is a Retail company with two major partnerships in Telecom (Sonaecom) and in the Shopping Center Management business (Sonae Sierra).
As of December 2008, the group was present in 16 countries, employed 37.500 people (it is the biggest private employer in Portugal) and reached a total turnover of 5,3 billion Euro.
Sonae’s strategic objectives are: international growth of its different business divisions, diversification of its investment pattern leveraging the strong asset base in Portugal and the pursuit of new business opportunities to support future value creation.
