A talk with Nuno Homem, WeDo technologies CTO
Nuno Homem is chief technology officer of WeDo technologies and is responsible for the company’s product development and implementation projects across the company’s international telecoms customer base.

Here, he explains how WeDo is positioned, after the recent acquisitions, as the market continues to consolidate and mature and what its plans are for the coming months.

WDT - How is the merger between WeDo and Cape Technologies progressing, in terms of branding and bringing together the two operations?
NH - The merger is proceeding very well. We are moving at a faster pace than initially estimated mainly due to the existing similarities between both companies. The branding is already complete and the organization unified. We are already developing several projects with mixed teams and in the process of unifying the offer.

WDT - Both companies had revenue assurance products and both had roaming products. Are you planning to bring those products together?
NH - Yes. We have committed to maintain and evolve the two lines of product during the initial two years. After that there will be a single line in both revenue assurance and roaming areas. But we intend to have a phased approach to this convergence. During this period will bring into one product the good things that we found in the other product, so the two lines will gradually approach and share common components. This will ensure a smoother transition to the resulting product.

WDT - How will you continue to support customers of the products of both companies?
NH - Customers are our most valuable asset. Not only will we support the two lines but we also intent to evolve them as I explained before. Nevertheless if a customer wishes not to migrate to a newer version we’ll keep the support.

WDT - What are WeDo’s strengths in the market now for revenue assurance and roaming products?
NH - With the merger we reinforced our strengths, deep business knowledge, and flexibility in the products and very high standards in delivery. We now have a team that has deployed solutions for very large operators in many parts of the world, in the most demanding environments and with consistent results.

WDT - Is the message now getting through to operators about the need for revenue assurance or are there some companies that are still not fully convinced?
NH - I think that customers already consider revenue assurance as a critical part of their operation. The level of complexity of the solutions is increasing and customers more and more knowledgeable and demanding on the providers.

WDT - What are your plans to develop WeDo’s range of products and services over the next year or two?
NH - We are progressing in the delivery of our vision of a revenue management solution covering revenue related processes such as fraud and revenue assurance, customer revenues management and partner revenue management. During this year we’ll release a new solution to cover the fraud area.

WDT - Do you expect to develop the capabilities of the existing product ranges, or introduce new products sectors?
NH - There will be significant improvements in our revenue assurance product capabilities, part resulting from the merger but a larger part from some ideias that we can only develop now as the team has grown, but there will also be new products to complement the existing offer. The fraud system will be able to work either as an independent solution or as a complement to revenue assurance solutions.

WDT - Following the merger, are there other products and companies that you are looking to acquire? How will you balance this will organic growth?
NH - We are still very alert to the market consolidation process, if the right opportunity appears we’ll consider it. But during this year our main focus is grow organically and improve our delivery capability and customer satisfaction.

WDT - Where are WeDo Technologies’ market strengths — in terms of both market sector and geography — and how do you see that changing?
NH - Our historical focus us telecommunications, last year we started to achieve considerable success in deploying revenue assurance solutions in other markets such as insurance, banking, healthcare, utilities. We think that will increase. On geography, the growth rate in Asia, Middle East and Africa was better than in Europe and Latin America as those telecommunication markets are still growing faster. We think that both trends will continue this year, maybe with some additional good surprises.
