AUNA selects Revenue Assurance Solution – RAID – from WeDo Soft
Madrid , July 2005 - WeDo Soft, a leading provider of software solutions for the communications & media markets, today announced the closing of a deal to implement its Revenue Assurance product (RAID) in Auna Telecomunicaciones, the leading alternative telecommunications operator in the Spanish market. AUNA provides wireline telephony, cable television, Internet access, packages of integrated services, data transmission and advanced solutions for companies.
AUNA has experienced tremendous growth over the past years and plans to significantly reduce any potential revenue leakage, with the implementation of WeDo Soft product – RAID.
RAID is WeDo Soft's answer to the inefficiencies arise within telecom operators in trying to maintain the coherence between their entire BSS, OSS and network systems portfolio, thus minimizing revenue leakage.
"Revenue Assurance is a very important area for AUNA and this project marks another milestone in our improvement initiatives. The use of RAID as a highly configurable dedicated tool means that we can integrate our control mechanisms and assure data consistency between operational platforms. We can also monitor revenue streams in an automated way, thus empowering our Team to consistently deliver added-value to our business," said Iñaki Prego AUNA’s Director of Excellence and New Services Development, responsible for Revenue Assurance.
Juan Tonda, WeDo Spain’s Country Manager, added, "The momentum that RAID is building and its strong customer references in Spain and Europe make RAID the leading solution for Revenue Assurance. It demonstrates that RAID is continuing to gather the telecom operators’ preference and confidence. WeDo Soft is committed to RAID’s excellence assuring this to be the most complete, flexible and effective revenue assurance tool available in the market.”
The RAID solution permits the definition and implementation of the Revenue Assurance processes most adequate to each technological infrastructure and business requirements allowing for Revenue Assurance teams to save effort on usually time-consuming task and to dedicate all resources to the performing root cause analysis.
About RAID
RAID is an important tool for any telecom operator worldwide that wishes to prevent revenue loss due to data inconsistencies between their different systems – network components, operational systems and business support systems.
RAID is a modular solution comprised of:
The Platform Integrity Assurance Module performs automatic verification of subscriber data consistency between different OSS and BSS platforms. This RAID module validates discrepancies through a process of comparison across systems, such as Switches, Billing and CRM systems, and generates divergence reports and alarms.
The Revenue Flow Control Module audits the revenue chain, from event generation to the integration of these records in invoices sent to subscribers. This module monitors the exchange of information between the different systems of the revenue chain, identifying possible failures or deviations, which could lead to revenue loss, as is often the case.
The Events Control module is used to monitor the event processing chain, by tracking a sample of events, individually, from CDR generation in the switching centrals and/or service platforms to their inclusion in the invoices sent to subscribers. It also measures the performance of the flow of these events contributing for determining levels of service. This module is highly complementary to standard Test Call Generators.
In fact, RAID provides several benefits namely:
Operational revenue
Implements revenue Assurance processes detecting inconsistency and revenue loss in the network traffic, provisioning, billing, interconnection, etc. augmenting the operational revenue effectively generated.
Operational Excellence
RAID systemizes and optimizes the revenue control processes providing the means to implement large scale control mechanisms. The solution flexibility and ease of use empowers the revenue assurance team and enables the control procedures to evolve according to new control requirements, changes in the company’s strategy or by the introduction of new systems and/or solutions.
Quality of Service and Churn
RAID ensures that customers get the desired services for a fair price and error free mitigating customer dissatisfaction root causes.

Optimus wins The Data Warehousing Institute 2005 Best Practices Award for the second consecutive year:
WeDo Soft delivers Optimus’ winning solution in the category of “Right Time Business Intelligence”
Paris, France , July 4, 2005 - WeDo Soft, a leading provider of software solutions for the global telecommunications market announces that Optimus, one of its customers, won the Data Warehousing Institute 2005 Best Practices Award in the category of “Right Time Business Intelligence”. WeDo Soft is, for the second consecutive year, distinguished as a solution sponsor for the Optimus project.
Traffic data is essential to any Mobile Operator. True competitive advantage can be achieved by reaching beyond regular rated call detail records (CDRs), treating unrated call detail records (UTXs) - incoming and outgoing calls, rated or free, geo-referenced origin and destination - and enriching them with customer data. However, treating UTX data implies collecting, transforming and integrating several millions of CDR data within hours. In order to cope with this challenge Optimus has selected the Traffic Configuration Solution (TCS) from WeDo Soft.
TCS is an ETL tool designed to address Traffic Data Integration. Each kind of traffic data (Voice, SMS, MMS, UMTS, etc.) is handled through specific data flows, and each data flow comprehends different phases: importing, transforming, aggregation, enriching and inserting. At Optimus, TCS handles 14 different data sources, of which Mediation, Billing System and Prepay Platform are the most important. Traffic data is then integrated at the Corporate Datawarehouse, serving more than 200 users from Marketing, IT, Engineering, Planning and Control Management, Sales and Finance.
“The implementation of TCS allows Optimus users to have traffic information at their fingertips within hours, empowering a right time business intelligence practice. The generic ETL tools are not performant and flexible enough to handle the complexity of traffic data. This made us turn to developed scattered programs and scripts that were hard to maintain. WeDo Soft’s TCS now replaces those tools, by providing the performance and scalability needed to handle ever increasing volumes of data” states Carlos Jorge, Optimus Information Systems director.
“We are very excited to receive this recognition for the second time. We believe that the efforts that we have put into Optimus’ Business Intelligence truly reflects the markets best practices, while delivering solid results for Optimus’ business,” refers José Lourenço, partner at WeDo Soft.
